A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
There's so much that I want to squeeze into what's left of this wonderful summer. I'll start off letting you know what's been happening with your FLMI Society and what there is in store.
Spring Seminar
We had a variety of speakers, something to interest everyone. They ranged from our opening speaker, Maggie Hughes of Allianz Life Insurance Company, who stressed the need to have a passion for our work to financial planning, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and mastering telephone skills. At noontime we heard about Twin Cities history and the day closed with a motivational message with a focus on humor. Drawings were held at the end of the Seminar and Donna True was the lucky recipient of a complimentary package at the Earle Brown Heritage Center and Toni Domino received a Mall of America Gift certificate for submitting her survey response.
Saints Games
We tried something new this year and offered Saints tickets for two different games. It was a success with almost 200 tickets sold! We brought the Saints good luck since they won two our of three, yes three, of the games played those days. On May 28 playing Madison Black Wolf, the scores were 3-1 and 4-7. Despite the rain on June 25th, the Saints shut the Duluth-Superior Dukes out, 9-0. Let any board member know whether you are interested in a Saints game or other similar activity for next year.
Board Changes
Sheila Johnson, Life USA, and Kathy McElroy, Hartford Life, are stepping down from the Board to pursue personal interests. Their dedication, creativity, and professionalism will be greatly missed. Carol Hanson-Grue from Catholic Aid will be joining us at Program Co-Chair. Welcome aboard Carol!
Announcing Awards!
We have received two awards from LOMA. They are the Outstanding Society Award in Communications and Public Relations and a Special Achievement Award for our Silver Anniversary celebration last year. Congrats!
Recognition Dinner at Radisson South
Mark your calendar for this year's Recognition dinner on September 12. We applaud all that mastered their courses to earn the FLMI designation, a total of 56. Individuals. CONGRATULATIONS!
New Scholarship-$500
This year we are offering a $500 scholarship for higher education to children or grandchildren of Twin City FLMI or Associate members. To obtain more information, look inside, access our website, or contact a board member. Scholarship information will also be available at the September dinner. The lucky scholarship recipient will be announced at our November dinner meeting. Good luck to all entrants!
LOMA Conference
Loma's annual conference is being held in Orlando this year. Julie Hanson and I will be representing our Society. If you are attending, stop by and visit at the FLMI hospitality suite or throughout the conference. We look forward to meeting you!
FLMI Website
We now have our own website. Visit us at www.flmi-tc.com for upcoming events, job postings, or even newsletters. If you have suggestions or comments on how the website or the Society may be improved, let us know.
